Universal Health Services, Inc. to Purchase Leading Behavioral Health Hospital in Puerto Rico

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa., Jan. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Universal Health Services, Inc. (NYSE: UHS) announced today that it has signed an agreement to purchase the 108-bed San Juan Capestrano Hospital and related clinics in Rio Piedras, one of Puerto Rico's leading behavioral health hospitals. Closing of the transaction is scheduled to occur as early as January 31, 2001. Completion of the transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals in Puerto Rico.
San Juan Capestrano is currently owned by Behavioral Healthcare Corporation, a leading, privately-owned operator of psychiatric and behavioral hospitals throughout the United States. San Juan Capestrano produces approximately $17 million of revenue annually and operates profitably.
